Panchakarma
Panchakarma is a cleansing, balancing, healing and rejuvenating program for body, mind and consciousness. Ayurvedic principles of good living state that we must regularly cleanse internally and externally to optimise the function of the mind and body. Panchakarmas beneficial effects restore the natural rhythms and cycles of the body; harmonise energy flow, and promote a sense of well being which lasts.
Panchakarma with Simi Godagama
This programme includes: Purvakarma (oil massage and sweat therapy) and Shirodhara (a warm, continuous stream of herbal oils poured down onto the forehead), which are Panchakarmas most popular and effective methods of cleansing. Abhyanga oil massage (Snehana) causes toxins to rise to the surface of the skin and sweat therapy (Swedana) helps to eliminate them through the sweat glands.
Purvakarma is Panchakarmas mantra for detoxification. It cleanses the body internally and externally through the application of precious medicated ayurvedic oils onto the body. Using preparation techniques pioneered over 3,000 years ago, the oils are chosen specifically for each individual client, taking into account the prevailing dosha and constitution, overall body condition and the disorder to be treated. Ayurvedic medicated oils are massaged from top to toe priming the body to release toxins. Where there are areas of pain and swelling, warm medicinal pastes are applied. Steamed compressions can be applied to specific areas using rice, sand, salt or mixed dried herbs wrapped in muslin cloth, which invigorates the nervous system and opens the pores of the skin in preparation to the steam bath treatments.
Following oil application (using specific ayurvedic massage techniques which stimulate the chakras and marma points), patients are given a warm herbal infused steam bath to encourage the body to weep out deeply buried toxins. Shirodhara is Panchakarmas hallmark treatment for insomnia, restlessness, over active thinking, loss of memory and concentration, worry, fear and anxiety. A warm, continuous stream of herbal oils are poured down onto the forehead for 30-40 minutes, activating and nourishing your third eye and crown chakra, allowing energy to flow freely to the rest of the body.
