Acupuncture (Traditional)
Traditional acupuncture is a holistic healthcare system that regards pain and illness, whether physical or mental, to be a sign that the body is out of balance; treatment focuses on the individual rather than their illness or isolated symptoms.
Traditional acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles that have been developed, researched and refined for over 2,500 years.
Traditional acupuncture regards the human organism to be fully interconnected and interdependent physically, mentally and emotionally. Vital energy, or the body’s qi flows freely between all interdependent dimensions of an individual, and when this energy becomes blocked or cannot flow freely, pain and illness can occur.
The vital energy, or the body’s qi travels through pathways referred to as meridians, and these can get blocked for any number of reasons such as emotional and physical stress, poor nutrition, infection or injury.
The aim of Traditional acupuncture is to re-establish the free flow of qi, to restore balance and stimulate the body’s own self healing resources. This is achieved by inserting ultra thin, sterile, disposable needles into specific points which correspond with the meridian channels.
There are several techniques that can be employed during a treatment depending on the individualised treatment plan.
