Dr Harley is a member of the Council of the British Institute of Musculoskeletal Medicine, and is a Scientific Member of the Osteoporosis Society. He is president of the South-West London Medical Society and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. Dr Harley lectures at the London School of Osteopathy.
From 1959 to 1960 Dr Harley was House Surgeon and then House Physician at The Miners’ Hospital, Caerphilly. In 1960 he became House Surgeon in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Farnborough Hospital, Kent, from where he qualified D.Obst.RCOG in 1961.
Dr Harley developed an interest in Orthopaedic Medicine studying Osteopathy as Dr. Alan Stoddard’s Registrar at the Brook Hospital, Woolwich, doing research on the Epidural Space as Clinical Assistant to Dr. Pat Kendall at Guy’s from where he qualified D.Phys.Med in 1969.
For the past 25 years he has been in full time private practice as an Orthopaedic Physician devoting himself to the pursuit of the relief of pain, whether it is due to trauma (e.g. car accident), illness, deformity or simple wear and tear. He brings his substantial knowledge of obstetrics to his practice in the specialist care of the spine during and after pregnancy.
